Certification Information

Updates to Employee Current Certificate
If you are an employee with Conroe ISD and add or update areas to your current certification, please notify Claire Amos, HR Coordinator, by email at camos@conroeisd.net. She will verify your official certification with TEA and make updates in the Conroe ISD system. TEA does not notify Conroe ISD if you make changes, updates, or renewals to your certificate.

The certifications currently on file for you in Conroe ISD can be viewed in your Employee Access Center.

Please review the information available on the Texas Education Agency website for the requirements to become a certified teacher.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will issue a Texas One-Year Certificate to those teachers who hold a valid teaching certificate from another state. Application for an evaluation of credentials and issuance of a Texas One-Year Certificate should be made through the TEA. The contact number is 512-936-8400 and the web page address is http://tea.texas.gov/Texas_Educators/Certification/Out-of-State_Certification/Out-of-State_Certified_Educators/

Click here for information about expiring One-Year Certificates and the application for the Standard Certificate.

Conroe ISD will only consider alternative certification candidates who have taken and passed the TExES test in their content area.  Alternative Certification Programs (ACP) are designed for persons who have a degree but do not have a teaching certificate.  Conroe ISD will work with any ACP that has TEA approval.  A listing of approved ACPs can be found on the TEA web site

Please check with the program of your choice for information regarding certifications offered and application to the program.  Most programs offer information sessions for program requirements, eligibility, and costs.

No Degree
Those who do not have a Bachelor's degree should go to the university of their choice with a teacher education program and meet with an advisor to establish a degree plan. There are many universities in our area that offer teaching certification programs. Teacher certification can be obtained in Career and Technical Education without a degree (example: Auto Repair, Cosmetology, etc.).
